Ihor Petrashko held an interdepartmental meeting on the progress of preparations for the conclusion of industrial visa-free regime

February 1, 2021, the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade, and Agriculture was the venue for an interdepartmental meeting dedicated to the progress of preparations for the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (ACAA). The event was chaired by the Minister of Economic Development, Trade, and Agriculture of Ukraine Ihor Petrashko.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Energy, the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving, the National Accreditation Agency, Ukrmetrteststandart, and UkrNDNC.

“An industrial visa-free regime is one of the key priorities of the President and the Government. The agreement will open up huge new opportunities for Ukrainian producers and exporters. Therefore, the preparatory work for the conclusion of this Agreement is extremely important and requires maximum coordination of efforts of all parties involved,” said Minister Ihor Petrashko.

On the outcomes of the meeting, a Working Group was formed to participate in the negotiation process with European experts on the conclusion of the ACAA Agreement, which will be approved by the relevant order of the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture.

It should be noted that on October 29, 2020, a preliminary assessment mission was launched by EU experts on the readiness of the Ukrainian quality infrastructure for the conclusion of the ACAA Agreement. So far, 15 online meetings have been held.

The primary priority sectors of industrial products for industrial visa-free regimes include low-voltage electrical equipment, electromagnetic compatibility of equipment, machinery. Medical devices are included in the third stage of priority sectors of industrial products.

For the first time in 15 years, we can see active and productive cooperation in the direction of an industrial visa-free regime, which we are approaching on a daily basis. Much work has already been done, much remains to be done. But the screening and legal framework that is currently being created for the first three product sectors will become the foundation for covering all types of Ukrainian industry in the future, the Minister added.

It is planned that after the next meetings of the preliminary assessment mission in February-March, Ukraine will receive a report, which will begin a new important stage for the signing of the industrial free visa regime.
