The use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment is limited in accordance with European standards

Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of June 30, 2021, № 671 amended the Technical Regulations restricting the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

This decision will ensure the harmonization of Ukrainian technical regulations with European standards and will facilitate the conclusion of the ACAA Agreement in this area.

“The conclusion of” industrial visa-free “is one of the priorities for the Ministry of Economy. Therefore, we are taking all necessary steps to bring national legislation and, in particular, technical regulations in line with European standards. The conclusion of the ACAA Agreement will be an impetus for the development of Ukrainian industry and will form a competitive advantage for our producers in European markets, “commented First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Oleksiy Lyubchenko.

The decree sets a deadline for the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment provided on the Ukrainian market (currently such terms are unlimited), and which will correspond to those in force in the EU, in particular:

  • to 21.07.2024 – chromium in cooling systems of equipment and lead in equipment used in internal combustion engines;
  • to 31.12.2025 – lead in electrodes used in measuring equipment;
  • to 31.03.2022 – lead in medical devices for in vitro diagnosis.

The resolution came into force on July 2, 2021.
