The Ministry of Economy has developed an Action Plan to reform the system of technical regulation until 2025. The document is ready for consideration and adoption by the Government of Ukraine. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Serhiy Telenyk.
According to him, the plan provides mechanisms and deadlines for the adoption of technical regulations and standards for food, medical products, construction industry, transport, household appliances, eco-design and more. It is also about improving the legislation in the field of state market control of non-food products, developing of the reference base of national metrology, improvement of the national standardization system.
“The introduction of technical regulation in Ukraine according to European standards is the foundation in overcoming trade barriers, improving product quality and, in general, the development of a high-tech economy,” he said.
He noted that the adoption of the Plan is a necessary condition for the conclusion of the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptability of Industrial Goods, which is also called “industrial visa-free travel”. The agreement will facilitate the introduction of a new model of economic development and competitiveness of Ukrainian products in domestic and foreign markets. It will also help attract investment and allow consumers to get quality safe products.
