Denys Shmyhal: Government continues to adapt the Customs Code to the procedures encapsulated in the EU- Ukraine Association Agreement

The Government is actively preparing for renewing part of the EU- Ukraine Association Agreement, in particular, work is underway with European partners on progress in obtaining an “industrial visa-free regime”. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal emphasized during a regular Government sitting on June 9.

Denys Shmyhal noted that in the first five months of this year, Ukraine’s exports to the European Union increased by more than a third.

“This is an additional $2.7 billion in revenue for Ukrainian business. At present, such exports are at record levels, and of course, the European Union remains our main trading partner. We will continue to work to ensure that Ukrainian entrepreneurs have the fullest access to European markets,” the Prime Minister stressed.

The Cabinet of Ministers during the meeting approved the draft law on amendments to the Customs Code. As Denys Shmyhal noted, the Government continues to adapt it to the procedures set out in the EU and envisaged by the Association Agreement

“We propose to exempt from taxation the import of equipment of those enterprises that transfer their activities to the territory of Ukraine. By this step, we also encourage large companies to start working in Ukraine, invest here and create new jobs,” the Prime Minister underlined.

According to the Head of Government, it is also proposed to exempt scientific instruments and equipment from taxation, but provided that such equipment is intended for non-commercial purposes.
